The Triangular Pillars of Democracy- A Systematic and Structural New Model For Correcting Political Distortion.

The components are:

 

• Build a productive, informed, motivated and actively engaged Electorate to the Rebalance Power Relations between the Citizens and the Political Class in order to De-monopolize the Political Space.

 

• Train New Political Talents at a scale and speed in order to emerge a significant cohort of Disruptive-Thinking Political Class.

 

• Compel major Political and Electoral Reforms including laws, systems, administration and conduct of elections, political parties, etc.

 

• Demand for Democracy: Empowering the Electorate to Use their Power (Emerge an Empowered Electorate) to achieve 60-80% voter turnout in elections starting from the next one in 2023. These measures will be designed to emerge voters who are economically productive, informed, active, engaged and constitute a powerful electorate that cuts across two dominant groups — the low and middle-income class of voters. The assumption is that should there be a large turnout of these two massive groups consistently, it will signal effective demand for Good Governance. The premise is that an empowered electorate will make rational political choices in elections that are politically competitive which in turn will deliver good outcomes in the voting into office of quality candidates who will govern the country effectively by solving its priority problems and promoting public interest not their private interests.

 

• Initiate Supply Side Measures (Build a Value-Based and Competent Political Class) to change the quality of politicians in our democracy by establishing an unconventional academy of innovative politics, policy and governance. The objective is to help reduce the barriers to entry into politics by those who do not subscribe to existing political culture and predatory governance model. The academy will design and offer a rich 6-month curriculum on politics, policy and governance, which will be delivered by top grade Faculty of local and international academics and practitioners. The academy will admit a cohort of exceptional candidates who have a record of accomplishment comprising, character and ethical distinction, competence and capacity in their endeavors. The academy will focus on the poorly represented segments of our population—young people and women and train them to run for political office starting 2023. Each class of 500 individuals shall admit 250 young people and 250 women who will graduate after six months of a Boot-camp-type curriculum. The programs of the academy will be 60% technology-delivered and 40% physical mandatory classroom programs. Our goal is to graduate at least 2500-3000 #NewMindset politicians who can run for legislative and executive offices as a counter-political class to the existing one.

 

• Address Political Environment Issues to mobilize Nigerians to demand key reforms to the political system, electoral law, political parties, elections management and role of security sector in the conduct of elections.
